Gas Safe Register takes over from CORGI

Big Changes in the Gas Industry - 1 April 2009

From 1 April 2009, the gas safety authority CORGI has been replaced by the Gas Safe Register as the official UK wide gas safety organisation. The Gas Safe Register is now responsible for the registration and regulation of gas engineers, and membership to this new scheme is mandatory for any company or engineer who works with gas appliances. CORGI gas registration is longer valid.

If you are having some gas work done in your home, make sure that they have completed their Gas Safe registration by checking their card. Any person or company carrying out work on gas appliances in the UK must be on the Gas Safe Register by law. Having gas work done by anybody other than a Gas Safe Register engineer could be a risk to the safety of your home and family. All Gas Safe Register engineers are required to carry a photo identity card which states a license number and the type of work that they are authorised to carry out. If you would like to check on the registration status of a company or engineer, you can call 0800 408 5500 or follow this link to the Gas Safe Register website.

My Plumber takes gas safety very seriously, and all engineers working around gas appliances in your home are on the Gas Safe Register and will have their registration card available if you ask to see it.
