Going on holiday? Yes, you can turn your heating on even when you are away!

If you’re the kind of person who worries about leaving your home unheated and vulnerable to cold snaps while looking for some winter sunshine then one of the intelligent heating systems may be for you.

We spoke to Mrs Bridgen from Surrey who has recently returned from a trip to South Africa where for the first time she was able to use her new remote heating system.

She said: “When at home it has proved very easy to operate, and easy to change temperatures and timings.

“The system allows us to have 6 different time sessions in each day which is brilliant as it allows me to adjust the temperature to exactly what I need.

“For instance during the day when we are out the heating can be on a low temperature, then warm up slightly before we arrive home and reach maximum temperature by the time we arrive home, no wasted energy, and the house is at optimum temperature for when we arrive home.”

My Plumber asked Mrs Bridgen what the major advantages were having a new intelligent heating system.

She said: “The big difference between this system our old style thermostat is the accuracy and control I have.”
But it was during her recent trip abroad that the new system really proved itself invaluable.

She added: “We used the system whilst in South Africa. I checked the temperature every day or so.

“I could see the outside temperature and the temperature inside the house, I could also see whether the heating is on or not.

“For instance the outside temperature was -3.2, but I could see that the house was 10 degrees C this was very reassuring when away during the winter months. “In order to test the system I have put the heating on and watched it on line, which also gave us peace of mind.

“The reassuring thing is that I know that the house is being kept warm enough to avoid frozen pipes, but I do no waste energy unnecessarily.

“After landing from our flight I was able to turn the heating up and put the hot water on, so we arrived home to a warm house with a full tank of hot water, which was brilliant.”
